Teachers were selected from across the United States and will receive special opportunities to support their teaching activities for the year. Ms. Jurgensen is one of 50 teachers selected from across the United States to participate in this fourth year of the initiative.

Carissa Duran of Del Lago Academy received The Personalized Teacher of the Year Award, which honors a K-12 educator whose efforts as a personalized learning teacher exemplify a commitment to student success, knowledge, and skill as a professional educator and dedication to his or her students.

At the May 27, 2020 board meeting, the Board of Education named Dr. Pilar G. Vargas as the new Principal at Orange Glen High School starting July 1, 2020.

In an effort to provide nutritious meals to students during the summer months, the Escondido Union High School District’s Nutrition Services program is pleased to announce a program in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service. Beginning June 1, 2020, ANY child 18 or under will be able to secure breakfast and lunch at 3 of our high schools: Orange Glen High School, Escondido High School and San Pasqual High School.

Sections 66001 and 66006 of the Government Code require that Escondido Union High School District (“School District”) provide to the public information on impact fees received from new residential and commercial/industrial development to mitigate the impact of that new development on the school facilities of the School District.

“Kristi is a knowledgeable and student focused practitioner whose gives 100% of her efforts each and every day to supporting the success of her students,” said Superintendent Dr. Anne Staffieri. “Her connection to the school, surrounding community, and proven track record make her the ideal choice for principal of the Del Lago Academy.”

“Jacobs is highly regarded by his colleagues and the Escondido High community,” said Staffieri. “He encourages those around him to think outside the box, holds his colleagues to high expectations, and works diligently to make improvements to benefit Escondido High students.”

“In our district, or in the greater community, there is no place for hate,” said Board President Tina Pope at last night’s meeting. “What there is a place for, is building stronger understanding, greater cultural appreciation and compassion for all of as human beings, and greater understanding of our differences.”

“The governing board also named several new members of the EUHSD leadership team, including a new Assistant Superintendent of Educational Service, Dr. Martin Casas, and two new principals, Cory Gregory and Lou Landaverde, and a new Director of Human Resources, Craig Wiblemo.”

“We called this special meeting this evening to publicly resolve that in the Escondido Union High School District we are against all forms of racial discrimination, racism and united in our support for equity, safety, and the well-being of all students,” said Board President Tina Pope at this evening’s meeting.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Goode to our EUHSD family,” said Superintendent Dr. Anne Staffieri. “His years of experience in the classroom and in educational leadership will be a tremendous benefit to our district.”
