“Escondido, CA – The Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD) announced the 2022 Lighthouse Award recipients at the start of the new school year. The Lighthouse Awards are presented annually to EUHSD employees who go above and beyond in their work and leading the way for others. This year, the awards were presented to the following employees at kickoff events that took place prior to the first day of school on each site”

“Escondido, CA – Assistance League of Inland North County recently provided nearly 60 duffel bags for graduating seniors experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in the Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD) through their Operation Duffel Bag Program.”

“Escondido, CA – Escondido High Junior Riley Baldwin was one of 24 swimmers from across the United States who recently traveled to Normandy, France to compete in the 19th ISF Gymnasiade Normandy 2022. The International Sports Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade is the largest international sporting event held for high school students. It has taken place every two years since 1974. This event is like a mini-Olympics, held two years before the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. She was the only swimmer selected from California.”

“The Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD) celebrated nearly 1,600 graduating seniors with ceremonies at Del Lago Academy, and Escondido, Orange Glen, San Pasqual, and Valley high schools last week. Graduating seniors and their families enjoyed in person commencement ceremonies at each of the school campuses. In addition, the Escondido Adult School ceremony was held at California Center for the Arts Escondido on May 26, recognizing more than 40 graduates.”

“Del Lago Academy Senior Rita Sauceda has received a College Match Scholarship to the University of Notre Dame through QuestBridge, a national nonprofit that connects the nation’s most exceptional, low-income youth with leading colleges and opportunities. Recipients of the scholarship are granted a full, four-year scholarship worth more than $200,000. Her scholarship package includes tuition and fees, room and board, and travel expenses.”

The Escondido Union High School District’s Student Nutrition Services will provide nutritious meals for students during the summer months through a U.S. Department of Agriculture program. Meals will be made available to all children who are 18 years of age and younger. No application, registration, or eligibility documentation is required.

“At the May 10 Escondido Union High School District Board of Education meeting, the governing board named Michael Santos incoming principal for Orange Glen High School. He will begin his new role July 1, 2022.”

“The Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD) is offering summer school for students June 13 through July 8 this year at Orange Glen High School. Summer school is available for students who attend Escondido, Orange Glen, and San Pasqual high schools and offers students the opportunity to recover credits. Classes will take place Monday through Friday and two in-person sessions will be available, 8:00 to 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 to 4:00 p.m. There will be no school June 20 and July 4.”
